Sam Khichi is executive vice president, chief policy officer and general counsel at CVS Health. He leads the legal, compliance, government affairs and communications teams. Together the teams work to support the company's strategy and grow our business with integrity, protect our brand and assets with tenacity, and serve our customers with heart.

Prior to joining CVS Health, Sam served at Becton Dickinson as executive vice president, corporate development, public policy, regulatory affairs and general counsel. He joined Becton Dickinson through the acquisition of C. R. Bard where he served as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary, and previously was the chief administrative officer, senior vice president and general counsel at Catalent Pharma Solutions. He has led significant transformations at complex and large-scale health care organizations.

Sam previously served as a reserve officer in the United States Navy, an active-duty field artillery officer in the United States Army and a White House Fellow appointed by President George W. Bush. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Georgetown University, a Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law and a master’s degree in business administration from the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management Executive MBA Program.

Co-Chair of Global Antitrust/Competition Group at Dechert

Mike Cowie, Co-Chair of Dechert's global antitrust/competition group, has handled high-profile, strategic projects for some of the world’s largest and most successful companies. His advice builds upon insights gained while directing antitrust investigations for the government. In 2018, the National Law Journal recognized him as a "Trailblazer," in 2019 the Financial Times honored him for achieving "some of the most complex antitrust approvals," and in 2020 Global Competition Review placed him among the antitrust advisors of the year “based on practical judgement and excellence in client service.”

Mr. Cowie served in the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Competition as Assistant Director, where he managed a 25-attorney team responsible for antitrust merger investigations. Mr. Cowie earlier served as the FTC’s Senior Litigation Counsel responsible for leading the Commission’s antitrust litigation. The FTC awarded Mr. Cowie several honors, including the FTC’s Meritorious Service and Superior Service awards, and selected him to represent the FTC in its Merger Investigation Best Practices Initiative.

He has led the work obtaining government approval for transactions that have been recognized as Global M&A Deal of the Year by the American Lawyer, Deal of the Year by The Deal, Merger Control Matter of the Year by Global Competition Review, and Innovative Project of the Year by the Financial Times.
